Magna-Tiles runs first experiential event in UK

WOW! Stuff hosted the event for Magna-Tiles at London’s Horniman Museum and Gardens, welcoming more than 300 children and parents along.

WOW! Stuff has held the first ever UK experiential event for Magna-Tiles, bringing hands-on, creative open-ended play to families at London’s Horniman Museum and Gardens. The immersive pop up welcomed more than 300 children and parents, along with local influencers, giving them the chance to explore Magna-Tiles newest sets and dive into experimental play.

Families were able to try the latest Rail Racers concept, as well as the new Police Station and Fire Station, which include working light and sound tiles, alongside hundreds of classic Magna-Tiles sets and accessories.

A specialist play facilitator guided the families through simple STEM challenges and collaborative builds, encouraging them to test ideas, problem solve, work together and even to tidy up at the end of each session.

The play sessions highlighted the role Magna-Tiles can play in developing core 21st century competencies such as creativity, critical-thinking, communication and collaboration. Many parents commented on how engaged their children were, expressing their own creativity throughout the play sessions.

Kerry Tarrant, head of Marketing and Brand at WOW! Stuff, said: “Events like this are invaluable as they give families the chance to try out our new and existing ranges and explore them in their own way, particularly in the run up to Christmas. It also gave us useful first-hand feedback on what really excites children about our new ranges. Throughout the weekend, we saw really engaged groups, and it was brilliant to see so many children experimenting with the sets and pushing their builds further than we expected.”

Jenny Tracey at the Horniman Museum and Gardens added: “We received 100% positive feedback from our visitors taking part in this special event series. Thank you to Magna-Tiles and WOW! Stuff for partnering with the Horniman to provide this unique experience free of charge, making it as accessible and inclusive as possible. With the gifted sets of Magna-Tiles, we’re excited by more creative play opportunities in the future.”

The Horniman event formed part of Magna-Tiles’ broader marketing activity in the lead up to Christmas, along with media outreach and a widespread programme of paid and gifted influencer partnerships. Further consumer-facing activity is planned into 2026 to continue driving awareness of the brand’s open-ended, STEM-led play experiences.
